"In light of this news, the fight will be cancelled, and a full investigation will be conducted." Whyte, who lost a title challenge to WBC world champion Tyson Fury in April 2022, reacted to the news on messaging platform X, formerly known as Twitter. The outcome of the Joshua v Whyte fight could have put either fighter in the frame for a lucrative clash with former WBC champion Deontay Wilder. UKAD said last month that Benn, who had been due to fight Chris Eubank Jr in London last October, was no longer under suspension.

LONDON, April 20 (Reuters) - British welterweight Conor Benn has been provisionally suspended by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) after two failed voluntary drugs tests last year that forced the postponement of his fight against Chris Eubank Jr, the organisation said on Thursday. Undefeated Benn, who has reiterated his innocence, voluntarily relinquished his British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) licence after the Eubank Jr fight was called off, vowing to clear his name. "Following reports in the media and comments made by professional boxer Mr Conor Benn on Tuesday 18 April 2023, and in exceptional circumstances, UKAD confirms that Mr Benn was notified and provisionally suspended by UKAD on 15 March 2023 in accordance with the UK Anti-Doping Rules," a statement read. "UKAD can also confirm that on 3 April 2023 it charged Mr Benn with an Article 2.2 violation for the alleged Use of a Prohibited Substance (clomifene). The charge against Mr Benn is pending and will now follow the Results Management process in accordance with the UK Anti-Doping Rules."

March 7 (Reuters) - British boxer Conor Benn said he felt suicidal after his failed drugs tests last year caused his much-hyped fight with Chris Eubank Jr to be cancelled in October. loadingAsked if he was feeling suicidal, Benn said: "Yeah, I would say so. I got in a really bad way about it. 'Kill yourself', racist comments to my son, to my family," Benn said. I was in a really bad way and I was coping terribly with it."
WBC reinstates Benn after blaming eggs for failed dope tests
  + stars: | 2023-02-22 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +1 min
LONDON, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Britain's Conor Benn will return to the WBC world rankings after the boxing body cleared him of intentional doping on Wednesday and said a "highly elevated consumption of eggs" was a reasonable explanation for failed tests last year. The WBC said in a statement that Benn's team had this month provided a detailed breakdown of his diet and consumption of supplements. It found no conclusive evidence that Benn, 26, intentionally ingested the banned substance Clomiphene and no procedural failures. "Benn’s documented and highly-elevated consumption of eggs during the times relevant to the sample collection, raised a reasonable explanation for the Adverse Finding," the WBC said. "The WBC Nutrition Committee will work with Mr. Benn’s team to design a nutrition program geared to avoid the risk of a future adverse finding caused by nutritional factors."
